Over 8,500 hygiene kits and food packages were distributed to labourers on Friday 13th Nov 2015 at the Gurunanak Darbar Gurudwara Jebel Ali Gardens, Dubai UAE in line with the Diwali celebrations.
Surender Kandhari, Chairman GuruNanak Darbar Gurudwara Dubai & Dr. Robert Bateman, President of the Abu Dhabi Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, agreed to put the words of Interfaith Harmony discussions into actions by organizing a free drive of organizing Interfaith Humanitarian Project.
Unfortunately Robert Bateman passed away suddenly on 11 October 2015 but the congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints decided to continue with this good cause.
Each hygiene kit will includes a towel, soaps, toothpastes, tooth-brushes, combs and detergent packets and each food packet included rice and lentils.
“This global kit and food packets will help thousands of impoverished people who can’t afford or lack access to simple basics and simple meal including those in need in our local communities. These kits will help prevent disease and promote good health and dignity and feed the hungry with food. We plan to carry out more initiatives like this in the future that focus on helping people in our community,” added Mr. Surender Singh Kandhari.
